Michael Schumacher is one of the most celebrated sports personalities in the world. He is a 7-time Formula 1 champion and all-time great Formula 1 driver. Only Lewis Hamilton is equal to Schumacher in terms of achievements. In the 2013 tragedy Struck Schumacher as he was skiing in the Alps hit a rock and went into a coma for several months. Doctors said only his helmet saved his life considering the nature of his injury. To live he needed to undergo 2 rounds of life-saving brain surgery at the Grenoble hospital.

Since the incident, the 55-year-old Michael Schumacher has been away from media and cameras, his life has been kept very private by his wife Corinna. Only a handful of people are allowed to speak with the legendary driver who recently appeared at his daughter's wedding. Even for the marriage, only a few people were invited and they were not allowed to take cameras or smartphones with them as it could lead to any privacy leak of the former champion's health condition.

One F1 driver has a special privilege

All of these restrictions do not apply to one Formula 1 driver. Michael Schumachers former Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa is the only privileged driver who is allowed to see the world champion whenever he wants. When Schumacher raced for Ferrari Felipe Massa was a test driver then. They both became good friends even after Michael moved from Ferrari. He also earned a famous victory against Schumacher at the 2006 Turkish Grand Prix.

Massa talked about being a teammate to Michael Schumacher and said “It was a great time to be able to be teammates with Michael Schumacher. I learned a lot from him. He was an amazing driver. The way he was working… We were very close as well. In the end, I was lucky to be part of that experience.”
