The two-time world champion Fernando Alonso wants a third world title as he prioritises Formula 1 over other sports like the Dakar Rally and the Indy 500. He wanted to win the Third title for Aston Martin F1 team. Alonso signed a new contract with the Silverstone-based Aston Martin team and he will be seen until the 2026 season. He is also the ambassador so even after his racing time he will still be with the team.

The 43-year-old driver from Spain is highly regarded as one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 history often appreciated for his pure driving skills. His team also brought in Design gem Adrian Newey from Red Bull who designed world championship-winning cars for Red Bull and McLaren. He will be joining for the 2025 F1 season.

'Formula 1 is priority now' - Alonso

Alonso was asked about returning to the Indy 500 to complete his triple crown journey. He already won the Le Mans and Monaco GP. The Indianapolis 500 is the only thing left for him to win. He replied “I attempted Indy 500 three times and didn't succeed. It's the only one missing. But at the moment, it's not in my plan. Im very, very focused on Formula 1 now. For the next two or three years, I want to win the third world title. This is my first and only priority at the moment. After that, because I will be 45, 46, I think the commitment that it will require to go to the Indy 500, the amount of learning that I will have to redo again… will be a little bit too much. Or it's what I think now. I cannot say 100%.”

Rather than going to the Indianapolis 500, he is very interested in having another shot in the Dakar Rally which he feels is a bigger statement he can give as a versatile driver. “If I can win Formula 1, Le Mans and Dakar rally it will mean a lot for me as a driver” he says. Alonso participated in the Dakar Rally in 2020 with Toyota and finished 13th.
