The grand finals for Skyesports CS2 Championship 2024 saw 3DMAX take home the crown after dominating The MongolZ in a clean sweep. A huge upset for The MongolZ, but an incredible journey for the underdogs of the event.
The team played some impressive games throughout the Playoff, taking down much stronger teams like ENCE who have multiple CS Major holders, Aurora Gaming who was the top seed of Group A and now, The MongolZ, who were the big guns as per their previous performances.
An interesting fact to note is that the second seeds from the group stages were the ones who reached the grand finals after defeating the top teams from their group stages. This was also the first big win for 3DMAX this year, and fans are happy to see their hard work paying off at the event.
As for the tournament itself, Skyesports did have some bad luck accumulate on the same day, leading to multiple issues. However, they did manage to turn things around and give people a decent event, with things likely to improve in future events.

Match overview
As mentioned earlier, The MongolZ did not even get a chance to fight back or, as the fans would call it, the team ‘did not even show up’. Graviti took the charge on bot T and CT side for 3DMAX and was one of the best performers in the team. MongolZ were constantly getting plants, but were either not able to defend properly or were left at several disadvantages post-plant.
The second match saw The MongolZ step up their game with a decent first half which was recoverable on the CT side. However, the team did not secure even a single game on what was supposed to be their best map. Maybe it was due to the first time playing against these players in 3DMAX. Regardless, the game ended similarly, leading to 3DMAX taking home the championship as an underdog.
