The ongoing Counter Strike 2 (CS2) tournament, Skyesports Championship 2024 faced heavy backlash from the community on Day 1 after multiple technical and internet issues. The game kicked off in Mumbai on July 23, and the news regarding these issues started surfacing soon after.
Players attending the tournament updated their fans and revealed that the teams were having problems booting up the game. With the onset of the monsoon, the weather conditions were also bad, leading to long outages and internet issues, further delaying the event.
When the players were finally able to boot up the game, they found out that the configuration for all PCs was different, with many players not being able to get stable frame rates. This created unfair gaming conditions with further added to frustration.
The situation reportedly got so worse that one of the participating teams, BetBoom, backed out of the event. “We believe that fair competition requires a level playing field for all teams, which is currently not the case,” the organization wrote. Considering the event is aimed to give India international exposure to CS2, the start has been really rough.
