Elon Musk recently expressed his interest in acquiring Hasbro, a multinational toy manufacturing and entertainment holding company, in order to secure the rights to D&D. A small statement from the multi-billionaire regarding the acquisition reportedly resulted in a 2% bump in the stocks of Hasbro.
This came after a huge uproar in the community after the release of the 40th Anniversary “Making of D&D” book back in November, which created some controversy. Initially, Musk responded to D&D Product Lead Jason Tondro’s comments. Things took off from here with a screenshot surfacing from Tondro responding to Musk’s comment.
“I just don’t take those critiques seriously even now. I consider those people not worth listening to, so I didn’t anticipate their outrage,” Tondro allegedly wrote. Musk responded, saying, “How much is Hasbro,” which started the speculation that he is planning to purchase the company.
Elon Musk to start his own game development studio
Musk has already announced that xAI is going to start an AI game studio to make video games great again. The reaction to the announcement was a bit mixed, as AI isn’t as advanced as to make full-fledged games. Furthermore, there are some ethical concerns over the use of AI in video games, especially the art side.

However, many believe Musk was talking about the integration of AI in video games. After all, Elon Musk is reportedly a gamer at heart and is currently the best Diablo 4 player across the globe, which was a huge surprise to everyone. Many claim he might have paid someone to boost him on the leaderboard, however, there is no proof of anything like that yet.
It would be no surprise if Elon Musk did make a move for Hasbro, considering his plans for a game development studio. Furthermore, acquiring Hasbro will not only allow his the D&D IP but also many more franchises like Transformers, Monopoly and even My Little Pony.
