Adrian Newey, Formula One’s all-time greatest car designer, has moved from Aston Martin to Red Bull, where he worked for over a decade. Many thought Adrian Newey would move to Ferrari, but he has shocked everyone by choosing Aston Martin as his next home.

Red  Bull’s Chief advisor Helmut Marko finally opened up about the veteran moving from Red Bull to Aston Martin. He said, “Of course, with the death of Dietrich Mateschitz, a certain change has occurred. He was the only leader. He made quick decisions. He was a charismatic entrepreneur with great foresight and was willing to take risks with the racing team.

The company has to reset now and that can also be the reason for Newey’s decision to look for a new challenge.” He also said that the offers their employees receive from other teams cannot be matched compared with their budget cap.

'It hurts' - Helmut Marko

Marko says, “Newey was with us for 19 years, Wheatley for 17. They were part of the team, part of the group, and part of the club. They were part of the team, part of our success. That hurts, but if they leave for financial reasons, for career reasons, because you can't keep up with the offers, then that’s the way it goes.”

The Aston Martin signing of Adrian Newey was very shocking for many teams because the renowned car designer was a key part of Red Bull’s Formula 1 success and he was the designer of championship-winning cars of Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.

Next year is going to be very big for Aston Martin as they will have a new partnership with Adrian Newey, a new wind tunnel, and Honda. In 2026 New engine regulations will kick in and let's see if Aston Martin can produce something great with Adrian Newey.
