Politics and Sport is a never-ending love story all around the world. Many politicians will use sports personalities for their political ambitions and votes during elections. Politicians around the world exploit many industries like Sports, television, Movies, and Music. etc. for their political ambitions.

The US presidential race is underway and the main candidates Vice President Kamala Harris and Former President Donald Trump are tussling for the white house seat. The United States Grand Prix will be held next week followed by Las Vegas in November. The US Elections will be held on November 5. So the United States GP is seen as a political arena by the two presidential candidates.

Even though there is no American driver in the Formula 1 grid names like Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Daniel Ricciardo are very popular in America. After the Netflix Show ‘Drive to Survive’ F1 became a huge influence factor in the USA and many fans and celebrities came to the US GP to watch races live. The American Owned Haas F1 team is competing in the Formula 1 races. Liberty Media the house that owns F1 is also from the USA. So, the US presidential elections having a direct influence on the sport is no surprise.

Kamala Harris Supports Lewis Hamilton

The same kind of situation has emerged now when Democrat Presidential candidate Kamala Harris said she is a huge fan of Lewis Hamilton and Formula 1. She and her family watch races when they are all together. VC Kamala said “It's so good, we love it, our whole family does watch races. I haven't been able to watch it recently because I'm campaigning. When asked about her favourite driver Kamala replied “Lewis Hamilton, of course. He’s leaving Mercedes.”

Trump at Mclaren Garage

Earlier this year at the Miami Grand Prix Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump cheered for the McLaren team and title contender Lando Norris. He was invited as a guest by the McLaren team and he told Lando Norris as his Lucky charm after seeing the British racers Maiden F1 win.

After facing backlash, McLaren responded “We are a non-political organization and we recognise and respect the office of president of the United States. So when the request was made to visit our garage on race day we accepted alongside the president of the FIA and CEO’s of Liberty Media and Formula 1.”

McLaren and Formula 1 were not part of any political organisation but they were forcefully dragged into these politics. After Kamala Harris's comments on Lewis Hamilton, he could also face consequences and be grilled by the media houses during the US GP press meet.
