Adrian Newey exits Red bull, set to join the Aston Martin Formula 1 team

Adrian Newey ends his relationship with Christian Horner to join the British Formula One racing team Aston Martin Team in 2025 alongside Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.

British team Aston Martin ropes in renowned racing designer Adrian Newey as their new managing technical partner. He will leave Redbull in the first quarter of 2025 and then join the Aston Martin team along with 2-time world champion Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.  

The 65-year-old legendary Formula One designer is considered the greatest racing car designer of all time. He will end his relationship with Red Bull team principal Christian Horner. He is set to join the British Formula One team as a Managing Technical partner and shareholder.

Newey is excited about joining the Aston Martin Formula One team as the new managing technical partner. Newey talked about his new role and said, “I am thrilled to be joining the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 team”.

He also credited Larewnce Stroll for making the Aston Martin team a highly competitive world-beating Team. He will now be banking a deal worth around 20 million Euros per year with add-ons which could then move up to 30M euros per year.

Adrian says “Together with partners like Honda and Aramco, they have all the key pieces of infrastructure needed to make Aston Martin Formula One team as a world championship winning team and I am very much looking forward to helping them reach the goal.” Newey was quoted as saying by Aston Martin.

 

Aston Martin executive chairman Lawrence Stroll said the team needed Adrian when he became aware of his availability. He says signing Adrian was the biggest story and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity since Aston Martin Formula One Racing Team returned to the Formula 1 sport. 

Stroll believes Adrian is a racer and one of the most competitive people he has ever met. He feels Adrian quickly understood what Aston Martin was building in their AMR Technology campus at Silverstone. He says: “We mean business- and so he does. Adrian shares our hunger and ambition, believes in our project, and will help us write the next chapter in Aston Martin Aramco’s Formula One story”.
