Two-time world champion and Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso has admitted that he doesn't have time till Adrian Newey will impact Aston Martin cars. He says that seeing the impact on cars will take time which we may not see in 2025. The Silverstone-based F1 team has made headlines by signing the Greatest Formula 1 car designer Adrian Newey from Red Bull who will be joining the team in March 2025 next year as a Managing Technical partner.

The 43-year-old driver from Spain also has a multi-year agreement with Aston Martin. During the Singapore GP he said “We cannot predict the future, but as I said before, I think we have quite good things coming in the next few months in the team, especially the wind tunnel. I would say that is a game changer for us.”

"We are using Mercedes Wind tunnel which is limited on time. Now we have our own wind tunnel which will be a huge step forward. We cannot forget the Aston Martin factory two years ago on a very small building from the racing point, Force India. And now we have double the personnel and we have this new facility.”

The Adrian Newey Impact

Fernando Alonso also talked about Signing Adrian Newey and his impact on the Aston Martin team. He says “We have all to have the first race win and hopefully we will be fighting for championships in the future. I'm aware that this takes time and I don't have that time in a way. But I'm relaxed and I'm enjoying the journey. I think the 2026 project should be the first car that he has influence on.”

Newey will be focused on developing the 2026 Aston Martin car as he arrives next year. 2026 we will see new technical regulations introduced to the sport. Aston Martin will also join hands with Honda for the 2026 Project. Aston Martin is still waiting to secure their first win in Formula 1.
