Top 5 benchwarmers in IPL 2025 who deserve a match

Indian Premier League 2025 is underway as the first few weeks of the tournament have been a huge success in a lot of ways. Meanwhile, a few youngsters have also amazed the cricket fans and experts with their amazing talent and promising skills, be it with the bat or the ball. From PBKS’s young sensation Priyansh Arya to CSK’s star spinner Noor Ahmad, the youngsters have left a big impact.

Meanwhile, there are also a few players who have been benched throughout the ongoing IPL 2025 season so far. The list includes a few youngsters, alongside a few star players who haven’t got a chance to feature in the playing XI for their respective teams.

With that said, here we’ll have a look at the top 5 cricketers who are being wasted on the bench in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025).

Vaibhav Suryavanshi

The young 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryawanshi was picked by the inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. He also became the youngest player to be picked in the entire history of the Indian Premier League since the tournament’s inception in 2008. 

Suryawanshi displayed a brilliant batting performance while playing for India’s under-19 team in the junior cricket circuit. However, he hasn’t had any chance to feature in the playing XI of the Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing IPL 2025 so far.

Shaik Rashid

The Andhra-born all-rounder Shaik Rashid was picked by the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025 mega-auction in Jeddah. Shaikh Rashid impressed everyone with his brilliant batting performances in domestic T20 cricket. 

He has scored 35 2 runs in 15 innings, with a decent batting average of 29.33, with a century and a half-century, including three unbeaten appearances. Still, CSK haven’t given him a chance to play in the playing XI in the ongoing edition of the tournament so far.

Rovman Powell 

Kolkata Knight Riders bought the star Caribbean middle-order batter, Rovman Powell for an amount of INR 1.5 crores in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. Powell has been known for his brilliant hitting abilities both in the international cricket and franchise T20 cricket as well. 

Despite Powell’s big-hitting abilities, he hasn’t been seen in KKR’s playing XI in the tournament’s current season so far. It can also be said that Powell can bring a lot to the table if KKR picks him in the playing XI for the rest of the matches.

Karun Nair

The Vidarbha batter Karun Nair has been in a sensational batting form in the white-ball cricket in the domestic cricket. He has a lot of experience of playing, both in IPL and in the domestic T20 cricket. He has scored 3462 runs in 148 innings of the 163 T20s he has played, with a decent average of 26.42, hitting two centuries and 21 half-centuries. 

He was also the leading run-scorer in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 while playing for Vidarbha. Despite getting picked by DC for 50 Lakhs in the IPL 2025 mega-auction, he hasn’t been a part of the playing XI of the side in the tournament so far.

Akash Madhwal 

The Roorkee-born star pacer Akash Madhwal played for the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians last year in the Indian Premier League 2025. He was in sensational bowling form throughout IPL 2025 despite MI’s poor run of form in the tournament. Madhwal scalped 19 wickets in 13 innings, with a decent strike rate of 13.7, hitting a five-wicket haul (5 wickets for five runs). 

Later, in the IPL 2025 mega-auction, he was picked by the Rajasthan Royals for the amount of INR 1.2 crores. Despite his brilliant performances last year, the 31-year-old hasn’t played so far in the playing XI of RR in the ongoing IPL 2025.
