Jasprit Bumrah took five wickets in the first Test series match against England at Headingley in Leeds, continuing his record-breaking run. On Day 3, with figures of 5 for 83 in 24.4 overs, Bumrah put up an outstanding performance for India. England were bowled out for 465 after India took a six-run lead, thanks in large part to Bumrah. In the opening game of the five-match series, Bumrah was at his peak despite the lack of help, giving the England batting team difficulties.
In Test cricket, Jasprit Bumrah claimed his 14th five-wicket haul, 12 of which came away from home. Bumrah followed in Kapil Dev's footsteps by taking the most wickets away from home in Test cricket with his most recent performance in Leeds. Bumrah also surpassed Wasim Akram for the most wickets taken by an Asian bowler in SENA nations (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) during the Leeds Test match. With four more wickets than Wasim Akram, Bumrah's total now stands at 150.

Jasprit Bumrah was standout player for India
On Day 2, Bumrah got three wickets, acting as India's lone warrior after the foreigners scored 471 in their opening innings. The two frontline pacers, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, were unwell on Saturday; thus, it was anticipated that the lead pacer would handle the bowling build on Day 3. On Day 3, Bumrah produced an outstanding spell that backed up the no-ball reprieve he gave Harry Brook in the last over of play on the second day. But he lost all of his wickets in Sunday's first session. Even Bumrah's little stint with the second new ball was flawed in terms of lines and lengths.
With Chris Woakes at his side, Brook ripped into the Indian attack, putting pressure on the other two speedsters due to Bumrah's lack of wickets. Brook was dropped on 83 by Jaiswal in Bumrah's over, but he quickly surged to 99. The England star was dismissed for 99 after adding just 16 runs, which was fortunate for India. Before dismissing Shoaib Bashir to finish with five wickets, Bumrah returned to mop up the tail, getting Chris Woakes with a ripper of a delivery that seamed in.
