Mark Wood, a pacer for England, has praised Jasprit Bumrah as the world's finest bowler right now, recognising the Indian captain's versatility in altering the game. Wood cautioned that England's hitters will have a difficult time with Bumrah's unrelenting accuracy and cunning speed during the opening Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
"He's a phenomenal bowler in all formats and extremely dangerous. I can honestly say he's tough to pick and face. He's quicker than he looks. Right now, he's the best bowler in the world, and he's capable of changing the course of a match at any moment," Wood told Sky Sports.
Jasprit Bumrah spearheaded India's bowling attack with his usual ferocity once more. Day 2 at Headingley saw him deliver figures of 3 for 48 in 13 overs, making him India's lone wicket-taker of the day. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Ravindra Jadeja, and Shardul Thakur, who made up the remainder of the attack, went wicketless in 36 overs. With 209 for 3 at the end of the day, England was still 262 runs behind.
The careless fielding disappointed the 30-year-old pacer. Following Bumrah's bowling, Ben Duckett was dropped on 15 and went on to survive a DRS review. In a difficult penultimate over for India, Harry Brook was bowled off a no-ball, while opening day centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal also dismissed Ollie Pope at 60. However, Bumrah finally received his prize for his efforts.

The team will look at Jasprit Bumrah's workload
Just before tea, Duckett was ultimately trapped leg-before for 62 after Zak Crawley was caught in the slips. This was the result of a delicate spell of pressure. Joe Root escaped a tight lbw shout on seven thanks to a successful review, and Pope, who went on to hit a wonderful century, forged a strong relationship with Root.
Bumrah performs well when the workload is carefully managed. He endured pain during India's tour of Australia last year before losing it in the last Test, which caused him to eventually leave the captaincy discussion. He had acknowledged before this series that he may only play in three of the five Test matches, pointing to the significance of long-term body management.
