Star India batter Shubman Gill displayed a sensational performance with the bat in his first game as the full-time skipper of India’s senior men’s team. He smashed a brilliant century against England on the first day of the ongoing first Test of the five-match series. He also became only the fourth Indian skipper in history to score a century on his first game as Test captain.

Gill scored 147 runs off 227 balls, with 19 fours and a six, before getting dismissed off Shoaib Bashir on the second day of the game. It was also his sixth Test century in a short but impressive Test career so far.

Meanwhile, there happened to be some bad news that Gill definitely wouldn’t have wanted on his first day as India’s Test captain. He is on the verge of disciplinary action for reportedly breaching the ICC’s regulations regarding the clothing and equipment.

Here’s the reason and rules if the offence exists

“Players are only permitted to wear socks of colours "white, cream, or light grey,” read clause 19.45 of the ICC’s clothing and equipment rules. The same three colours are also allowed in the white-ball format, alongside Test cricket. It also involves the base colour of the players’ trousers.

If in any possible case, Gill gets found guilty of breaching the clothing and equipment rules, he might be fined 10 to 20 per cent of his match fees. But there’s also a safe passage for him if it happened accidentally, which might include the reason that his regular and allowed shocks were not in condition to wear.

Speaking of the second day’s action of the first Test at Leeds, Team India has been bundled out at the score of 471 runs in the second session of the game. England have made a stunning comeback in the game after struggling for almost four sessions.

Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored centuries for India, with the knocks of 147, 134, and 101 runs. Besides these three, the veteran batter and opener, KL Rahul, also scored 42 runs off 78 balls, with eight fours.
