Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique departed to the pavilion in denial as the off-stump went flying back on the very first ball of the 2nd innings in the 1st Test match against England. Chris Woakes was in a fierce mood as he came running towards Abdullah and delivered the ball, which swung away and then seemed back in as he pitched it up around off.

The batter was in absolute confusion and couldn't understand what hit him in the first place. While he tried to drive the ball, his front foot didn't move that far forward, which created a space between the bat and the pad, letting the bat drift and reach the stumps. After a terrific performance with the bat, England is now onto their next task: defending the lead of 267 runs to beat Pakistan in their own backyard.

In the first innings, England scored 823 runs, thanks to Joe Root's 262 runs and Harry Brook's 317 runs. By that time, England were leading by 267 runs when they decided to declare the innings. Pakistan then came into bat in the 2nd innings, when they lost an early wicket.

Now, Pakistan will have to complete their trail and score runs to give a target to England, which seems impossible. Until yesterday, the match results seemed like a distant dream, but now it looks like the visitors will win the match comfortably and also book their ticket for the WTC 2025 finals.

Harry Brook becomes fastest Englishman to slam triple century in Test cricket

England's Harry Brook became the second Englishman to score a triple century in Test cricket. He achieved this feat against Pakistan in the 1st Test match, where he went on to score 317 runs in 322 balls, including 29 boundaries and three sixes. He smashed the bowlers and reached his triple century. He also became the fastest Englishman to score a triple century in Test cricket.

While Joe Root's triple century was anticipated during the match, Brook came out of the syllabus. His fearless batting and providing support to Root from the other end spoke about his batting prowess in red-ball cricket. He will always remember his innings as he etched his name in the history of the game.
