Tennis stalwart Carlos Alcaraz has stormed into the finals of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 tournament. The 21-year-old star player defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the semi-final thriller with a scoreline of 7-6 (2), 6-4. Alcaraz has a great chance to win his first 1000 title of this year after winning the ATP 500 Rotterdam Open following his blistering win over Alex de Minaur in the final showdown.
The 21-year-old tennis star has now leaped past current world number one Jannik Sinner in the PIF ATP rankings. The Spain-born star now sets out to lead the new PIF ATP Live Race to Turin, holding an extremely narrow edge over the Italian sensation. Alcaraz now sits at the top spot of the points table with 2060 points to his name, while Sinner is in the second spot with 2000 points and is currently out of action due to a doping ban.
Apart from that, Alexander Zverev, who failed to impress after the Australian Open 2025, sits at the third spot with 1675 points. After him, Indian Wells 2025 champion Jack Draper sits with 1640, ahead of Serbian legend Novak Djokovic with 1520 points.
Carlos Alcaraz aims to win the Monte Carlo Masters 2025 title!
Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz will be looking to win the ongoing Monte Carlo Masters 1000 tournament. The Spain-born star will face Italian star Lorenzo Musetti and aims to win the first-ever 1000 title of this current edition.
“It’s been a long time. I just had to be patient and believe that this moment was going to come again. Sometimes the people are not patient, they want me to make the final in every tournament. I’m really happy to give them the chance to watch one of my finals again. I tried to take the chances he gave me in the match. He saved a lot of break points and match points, but I’m really happy to [have] thought about myself,” said Alcaraz of his 13-month absence in Masters 1000 finals.
