Tennis star Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has stormed into the quarter-finals of the ongoing Monte Carlo Masters 1000 tournament after his historic win over Jack Draper in the third round of the prestigious event. Notably, Draper has been a top ATP player, having recently won the Indian Wells 2025 title after his stellar win over Holger Rune in the summit clash.

Fokina had a great start to the game, as he was seen smacking breathtaking shots since the first set of the game, which allowed him to take the lead. The two tennis players fought very hard in the second set, forcing it into a tiebreaker, with Draper winning the game and going into the third and deciding set. Later, Fokina was seen capitalising on his serves and gained an advantage over the British star's weakness to crash him out of the marquee event.

Notably, the Indian Wells 2025 champion was seen visibly upset and angry many times during this clash. The British number one star was seen yelling at himself to "wake up", with his serve letting him down in the first set. Jack Draper just had five aces and also made 10 double faults, with Fokina able to capitalise.

"That was not my best tennis and not my best mental strategy. Today was a very rollercoaster day with my mind. I thought I was playing better but my mind was saying a lot of bulls**t. I don't know how to control the emotions today. I'm very emotional today to play here. I didn't respect myself first and didn't respect my team and I'm so sorry for how I did it today. I'm happy for the win and I'm going to try to improve for tomorrow," he stated.
