Erik Ten Hag seems to be in hot water after his recent appearance in a Dutch Television channel. According to reports many of the top brass at Old Trafford aren’t happy with the Dutchman with his interview during his appearance.

During the course of his appearance, Erik Ten Hag revealed how he came to know about his job retention. There were massive speculations that Ten Hag might be fired despite winning the FA Cup. INEOS under Sir Jim Ratcliffe had conducted a review meet where it was decided to stay put with the current manager.

While speaking on the show, Ten Hag said that United’s hierarchy had come Ibiza to confirm his retention. Erik Ten Hag also was candid enough to reveal that the club was in touch with other managers but in the end made up their mind to stick with him.

One of the biggest talking points about the Erik Ten Hag interview in the midst of the Euro 2024 tournament was his willingness to be open about his situation in England. The 54-year-old was asked about the situation gone by to which the United Manager replied that the season was tumultuous and wasn’t as he had hoped for.

This is when the interviewer asked if he faced any dull moment to which Ten Hag, replied “There is never a dull moment at Manchester United”. The topic next moved to reports of him being potentially being fired. The interviewer asked if Ten hag had been on a vacation.

The Manchester United manager replied “Yes, but this week they really threw a spanner in the works, then out of nowhere they showed up at our doorstep”. Erik Ten Hag also confirmed that he was fully aware that the club was in talks with Thomas Tuchel. The German though showed his reluctance to take up the job.

This is where one could perhaps feel that the Man United top brass may have seen red when their manager said “Well look here in the Netherlands we still have the CDV and that’s not allowed at all. You are not even allowed to talk to another club the moment the trainer is an incumbent. Well the rules are a bit different and they did that, they came to the conclusion that they had the best trainer. Yes, they came to Ibiza”

Manchester United are set for a tricky start to the new season which kicks off on 16th June. The Red Devils finished 8th last season after a season blighted by injuries and bad form. Their first three games are versus Fulham at home before going away to Brighton. This will be followed by a visit from their arch-rivals Liverpool who themselves are looking at a new era post the departure of Jurgen Klopp.
