Manuel Neuer, the senior goalkeeper and captain, was sent off, thus Bayern Munich will be having their job cut off for them tonight. Just seventeen minutes into the team's DFB Pokal Round of 16 matchup with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, the legendary German goalie was given the boot.
Neuer, who was never sent off either club or country until today, is experiencing a career first, and the Bavarians' attempt to reestablish order in Germany following a dismal 2023–24 season could not have occurred at a worse moment.
Even though Leverkusen isn't playing up to the amazing level that Xabi Alonso established last season, Vincent Kompany still needs to think. After Neuer was substituted, Daniel Peretz entered the game, Leroy Sané was benched, and Bayern Munich attempted an impossible feat.
The Bavarians, who had already lost Harry Kane for this match, would need to work hard to make it to the quarterfinals. Now that everyone was expecting the 2023–24 Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal champions to triumph, Bayer Leverkusen had to withstand some pressure.
🚨🚨| This is how Manuel Neuer received his red card. 😳🟥

Will Alphonso Davies sign a new deal with Bayern Munich?
The current Bayern Munich contract of Alphonso Davies is scheduled to end during the summer of 2025. Recent rumors state that Bayern is still open to the idea regarding the Canadian left-back staying with the team longer. However, Real Madrid, who started monitoring Davies since September, is still interested in the uncertainties surrounding his future.
It should be mentioned that Real Madrid changed their approach after first trying to sign Davies during the previous transfer window. When his contract expires, the club is allegedly waiting for a chance to bring him upon a free transfer. In the end, this careful strategy brought Davies one step closer to reaching a contract extension with Bayern Munich. Even early this year, a basic understanding was achieved. But because of worries about the defender's performance at the time, Bayern's board postponed closing the acquisition.
