Australia weren't in their prime form in the first Test match against India where they lost by a humongous margin of 295 runs. Over the years, their performance has come down drastically, which is quite evident, especially in red-ball cricket. The batters have been disappointing, not able to form partnerships or attack the batters as they did once upon a time.
Former Australian player Ian Chappell shed light on the performances and remembered David Warner, who recently retired from cricket. Warner was an astounding batter and had an aggressive strokeplay nature. He had the ability to go after the best bowlers in the world, giving a sigh of relief to his team members.
Ian Chappell said, "I'm still waiting for an Aussie player to say 'We really miss David Warner's adventurous talent'. Warner's belligerence and ability to score quickly made life a lot simpler for the Aussie top order. His dominating presence is being sorely missed."
Australia will take on the Indian team in the Pink Ball Test match, which will start on December 6 at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide. The game will be intriguing for the players as it's a day/night match. India's record has been poor with the Pink ball, but they will try to change it this time.
I’ve been told, but I’ve also been told not to share it today: KL Rahul
Ahead of the second game, an important question that is still hanging in the air is KL Rahul's batting position after the return of Rohit Sharma into the squad. Rahul, who was excellent in the first game as an opener, was asked about his batting position in a presser, where he gave a quirky reply.
Rahul said, "I've been told, but I’ve also been told not to share it today. You have to wait for Day 1, or it may be when the captain (Rohit Sharma) comes here tomorrow." Now, the wait is for the captain to come and reveal the mystery behind this as the fans are eagerly waiting to know.
