Eden Hazard has stated that he doesn't love seeing Erling Haaland play football. The 33-year-old showered admiration on the treble champion, saying he had never seen a player like him before.
Eden Hazard praised him after stating that he used to follow Erling Haaland during his time at Borussia Dortmund. Gary Neville recently said that he used to think Manchester City was a "boring" team before the £51 million (Sky Sports) signing because he feels he makes them more "imperfect" as a squad.
In March, RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose quipped that the 23-year-old should return to work with him, amid controversy about whether he made Manchester City a poorer team after joining the club. However, Eden Hazard's admiration for Erling Haaland suggests that he does not especially enjoy seeing him play.
According to Manchester City News, Eden Hazard said on The Obi One Podcast, “For me, it’s like, when you talk about the best player in the world now, I don’t know, [Erling] Haaland is great, he’s great, he won the Champions League, he deserved to win the Ballon d’Or.”
“But for me as a football player, it’s not the way I like to watch football, Haaland scoring three goals, you know what I mean? It’s possible when you say something like that people say, ‘Oh, this guy doesn’t respect Haaland.’ Of course, I respect Haaland!”
Erling Haaland may recognize as an excellent player
Eden Hazard highlighted the players he watches football for, some of whom play alongside Erling Haaland for Pep Guardiola's team. Finally, football is a subjective sport, and Eden Hazard is correct in not finding Erling Haaland especially interesting. The beautiful game is full of opinions, and not every player will be universally appreciated just because of the entertainment value they offer to the game.
However, even if a certain pundit or fan dislikes seeing Erling Haaland play, they may recognize him as an excellent player, much like Eden Hazard did. There must be a balance in the appraisal of Haaland and any other such player; otherwise, one would be oblivious to his skill, which would be an unjust viewpoint.
