Sony's launch of the PlayStation 5 Pro was quite successful. Compared to the PS4 Pro launch, the PS5 Pro seems to be doing well despite being much more costly. The price of the gaming console was one of the main issues raised by people, as they believed the price did not justify the upgrade.
A report from Famitsu reveals that within a week of launch, the PS5 Pro reached almost 80,000 sales. We are over two weeks into the release, so the numbers are likely higher. Alongside the pro, the regular PS5 versions are also doing just well, with sales of over 95,000 in the same timeframe.
The PS5 Pro came as a mid-gen refresh with a better GPU that provides extra juice to run the games on better fps and quality at the same time. However, it did come with a hefty price tag of $700 meaning not many people would upgrade to the latest console, especially those who have the PS5 or recently bought it.
Sony also knew well that the sales number might be low considering the price, but reaching the PS4 Pro sale numbers, a console which was released at $400, is huge in the books of the company.

Scalpers are losing money
While Sony might be happy with this development, the scalpers surely aren’t. Further reports suggest that scalpers are now facing loss as their PS5 Pro stocks are left to rot, due to them being available everywhere. Many have to sell them at lower prices, purchasing from scalpers cheaper for once, although people likely won’t get any warranty, so do be careful.
Sadly for Indian PlayStation fans, it’s nothing but bad news, as the PS5 Pro will not be released in the country. Not just India, but any country that does not allow Wi-Fi 7 yet face a similar issue.
