A new version of Gran Turismo 7, titled “My First Gran Turismo”, has recently been rated in Taiwan, hinting that its release could be imminent. Designed as a free trial version, this iteration seeks to attract players of all skill levels while evoking the nostalgic charm of the original Gran Turismo that debuted over two decades ago.
Released in March 2022, Gran Turismo 7 was celebrated for its return to the franchise’s single-player roots, earning strong critical acclaim. Since then, developer Polyphony Digital has regularly updated the game with fresh content and addressed community feedback, such as improving server stability and tweaking race payouts. Monthly updates have kept the game dynamic, with the latest being Version 1.54, released on November 21, 2024.
“My First Gran Turismo” was initially announced as part of Sony’s PlayStation 30th anniversary plans unveiled in September. Its recent rating for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 suggests that the trial version could launch by December 3, aligning with PlayStation's milestone celebration. However, no official release date has been confirmed yet.
What can be inside My First Gran Turismo?
This free trial promises to feature cars, tracks, and events that will resonate with long-time fans of the series. Classic tracks like Trial Mountain and Deep Forest Raceway—painstakingly rebuilt for the current generation consoles—are expected to be part of the lineup. The game may also include race events reminiscent of Gran Turismo 7’s full campaign, mirroring the approach taken in previous spin-offs like Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.
Given Gran Turismo 7’s PS5 Pro Enhanced update, which brought 8K support and enhanced features, it’s likely that “My First Gran Turismo” will inherit similar upgrades. While new players will soon have this free option, those eager to dive in immediately can purchase the full game for just $29.99 during ongoing Black Friday sales at retailers like Best Buy and Walmart.
