Sony’s PlayStation 5 (PS5) Pro is the latest addition to their console line-up and a decent upgrade over the original PS5, including a better GPU and faster memory. Along with a few more tweaks by Sony, the PS5 Pro aims to provide players with better visuals inside a game without compromising the performance in the process.
The technical presentation showcased the big three used in PS5 Pro, the upgrades, ray tracing and PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution). Combining these together, as per Sony, allows players to combine the Fidelity mode and the Performance mode.
Previously, players either needed to sacrifice frames in exchange for graphics in Fidelity mode or sacrifice the graphics in exchange for frames in Performance mode. Making use of their big three upgrades, which on paper looked very decent, there is no doubt players will be getting more frames in Fidelity mode.
The company even showcased some differences across games, revealing much better reflections in higher distances, sharper images and improved FPS over the older console. Here is a small comparison by Sony during the technical presentation.
Here are all the games being upgraded to PS5 Pro -
Alan Wake 2
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows
Demon’s Souls
Dragon’s Dogma 2
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Gran Turismo 7
Hogwarts Legacy
Horizon Forbidden West
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
The Crew Motorfest
The First Descendant
The Last of Us Part II Remastered
A hefty price to pay for an upgrade
While the new PS5 Pro is undoubtedly the best performing console ever release, people are conflicted over its pricing. With a price tag of $699 for the digital edition, the PS5 Pro costs $300 more than the PS5. Not only that, people will also be needing to purchase a separate disc drive costing $80 making the price essentially $800 with taxes.

The graphical advancement with better frame rate is highly appreciated by people, but the PS4 Pro came with an optical drive on release and a $100 increase in price. There is a lot of uproar in this regard, especially when its competitor Xbox is sitting ducks.
