Netflix and CD Projekt Red are showing no sign of stopping as they just announced new Cyberpunk anime following the success of Cyberpunk Edgerunners. The latest announcement from Netflix gives a short teaser revealing that the story is taking fans back to the night city, although more details are yet to be revealed.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners was a massive hit on release and was considered as one of the biggest reasons why there was a surge in player count. Alongside Edgerunners, the game also received a massive update overhauling multiple things and adding a small quest related to the anime.

Edgerunners wasn’t an actual story adaptation but was set in the same universe featuring a different group of mercenaries. The events took place before the actual story from the video game, and the anime recently celebrated its second anniversary. With Edgerunners concluded, fans are excited to see what the team is planning to bring this time.

Speaking on the announcement, the Comic Book & Animation Narrative Director at CD Projekt Red, Bartosz Sztybor, said “I was busy and quiet for some time lately, but I was preparing some cool new things for you with a bunch of amazing people. Hope you understand!”

What is new Cyberpunk anime based around?

Since the upcoming show is once again based around Night City, fans are expecting something similar to this time, likely featuring the protagonist V. However, this could also be something entirely new once again similar to Edgerunners.

Last year, the game also released a big expansion, Phantom Liberty, which was also very well received. The possibilities here are endless, and so are the fan expectations thanks to their previous collaboration. The announcement also created a buzz among the fans, amassing various reactions.
