It seems there is more to the 15th anniversary of Minecraft than discounts and free rewards as the developers for the best-selling game, Mojang Studios and one of the biggest movie and TV show streaming platforms, Netflix, have joined hands to create an original Minecraft animated series.

The announcement was through a short teaser on the official Minecraft and Netflix YouTube channel. Apart from the reveal, there is not much information. The teaser itself shows a creeper explosion, sending us to the Nether realm where the floor is lava.

The series will be created by WildBrain studios, as reported by Variety, and will feature new characters with an original story, so players can cross out the original story mode from Minecraft. It is currently hard to say how much this concept will work out due to lack of information.

Story Mode for Minecraft was developed by Telltale which became fairly popular. However, it was removed from all platforms back in 2019 after the closure of Telltale Games. Fans of the series may be disappointed, but at least we are finally getting an animated series.

What can players expect from this collaboration?

With an original concept, players can expect cosmetics from the animated series inside the game. These can include character's worlds and many more. As for the story, the original game is to do what you want scenario, so watching a story will be quite interesting.

There is a live-action adaptation of Minecraft coming next year, featuring Jack Black as Steve. Jason Momoa is present alongside him in the recent 15th-anniversary celebration video, meaning he might also be playing a part in the movie.

In the meantime, those who were planning to get Minecraft can grab it while it is on a 50% sale which we do not see often, in fact, it has been years since the game went on sale last time. The game comes bundled with both Java and Bedrock editions together in the same package.
