The Indian cricket team started their tour of England on a high, ending the opening day at Leeds in total command. Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century helped India end the day at 359 runs after losing three wickets in 85 overs of play. Former England skipper Michael Vaughan, who is known to troll Indian fans, had said, “They arrive again to lose.”

Ahead of the second day's play, former India batter Navjot Singh Sidhu turned the tables around and took a huge swipe at Vaughan. The former India player was quoted by Sportskeeda as saying, “Michael Vaughan, your predictions, they're always wrong. BGT and then the South Africans are never going to win against Australia. I hope you're not predicting an India win now. Look at your bowling attack. They're pedestrians. Three of the Indian batsmen are stepping out and hitting them like spinners."

Navjot Singh Sidhu also said, “Boss noise proves nothing. Even a hen, while laying an egg, cackles as if she's laying an asteroid. Stop making noise; do something. There is no suffering that pity will not insult. Man, you're in a pitiable situation." Many felt Indian batters might struggle early in the game after Ben Stokes won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Irfan Pathan praises Yashasvi Jaiswal for his knock.

Former India player Irfan Pathan was in full praise for young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a century in his first innings in England. The 40-year-old, while speaking on Sony Sports, was heard saying, “Outstanding batting. He made a statement on the first ball by defending. It was the first ball of the series from Chris Woakes, and he took his foot forward and defended. His game plan was to play balls outside the off stump and on the stumps with great control.”

The former India star also added, “Whether the ball was full or he had to play on the up, the aggressive approach we saw against bad balls from this young Yashasvi Jaiswal's bat was praiseworthy. The celebration shows how significant it was for him to score a century on the England tour as a youngster.”

“He is 23 years old, and he has scored a hundred on his Test debut and hundreds in his first matches in Australia and England. He scored nearly 72% of runs square on the off side. He scored hardly any runs on the leg side. The waggon wheel clearly shows what his plan was. Absolutely brilliant batting by an Indian batter in these alien conditions," Irfan Pathan ended by saying.
