This year's F1 Season is going very tight between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris which is now interrupted by a month-long second mid-season interval. Just weeks after its summer shutdown, F1 is going for another break. The summer break will be taken from July end to August end every year. But this second season break is a surprise to everyone as the US GP in Austin will happen on October 20, which is nearly a month after Singapore GP.

Reason's behind second Mid-Season interval

The biggest reason for this second interval was Formula 1 organizers wants to group more races together based on their geographical locations. They also don't want to leave a carbon footprint in every part of the world at the same time in a matter of weeks.

This new strategy has made many races swapped from their traditional calender slots. Usually, Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place in May but this year it was moved to september. The Japanese Grand Prix was moved to April as it led other races to be rescheduled. This is the reason we have a four-week gap in the Formula 1 calendar.

Last year's Qatar race was unbearable to many drivers so this time it was moved to the December slot together with the final Abu Dhabi race. The next race is going to be the US GP, along with Mexico and Brazil, which will be a triple header in the American continent. Next year these kinds of situations wont happen as we will see Australia back in the season opener followed by China, Japan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia. The singapore GP will be moved from September to early October.

Climate conditions are the biggest reason for shifting many races from their traditional slot. For racing the conditions need to be perfect for teams and drivers. The organizers are looking at many possibilities to conduct races in good conditions. For summer shutdown the 14 day rest period is mandatory for all the teams. The teams, drivers, and every worker back in the factory will go on a holiday. But for this interval teams can open their facilities and keep improving their car.
