Monaco GP 2024: What to expect from weather at Monte Carlo this weekend?

For the second round of the European Grand Prix, Formula 1 has now reached Monaco. The Narrow streets of Monte Carlo will host the prestigious race in the traditional no-sprint format. Apart from its narrow circuits, Monaco is also very famous for sudden weather changes. Last year, Max Verstappen clinched the race in the rain-affected Grand Prix. 

So, going ahead, fans and teams would be eyeing the weather radar to know the chances of rain and sudden weather changes. According to the F1 weather report, Monaco might be affected by light to moderate rain.

Friday, May 24 – FP1 and FP2:

The day will begin with large sunny spells, but the weather will become unsettled as rain develops inland and lingers around the track during both practice sessions. Expect a light southerly breeze that will slightly increase throughout the day. Temperatures will reach 20°C during FP2, with a minimum temperature of 19°C during FP1. The chance of rain is around 40% which has increased from 24% two days ago. 

Saturday, May 25 – FP3 and Qualifying:

Saturday's weather will mirror Friday's conditions, starting partly cloudy and becoming cloudier and more unsettled by FP3. Showers are likely to develop inland in the afternoon, with the potential for one or two heavy showers affecting the track. A light sea breeze will be present. Temperatures will reach 20°C during FP3 and 21°C during qualifying and the chance of rain remains at 40%.

Sunday, May 26 – Race Day:

The risk of rain decreases compared to the previous two days, with partly sunny conditions expected during the race. A light sea breeze will be present, providing a more stable atmosphere. The maximum temperature is expected to be 23°C, with a minimum of 16°C. The chance of rain is less than 20%.

Summary:

- Friday: Sunny spells turning to rain, 19-20°C, 40% chance of rain.

- Saturday: Cloudy with showers, 20-21°C, 40% chance of rain.

- Sunday: Partly sunny, lower rain risk, 23°C, <20% chance of rain.
