Steveson will join the Buffalo Bills after winning an Olympic gold medal and becoming one of the most dominant collegiate wrestlers in NCAA history. Steveson, who signed a three-year rookie contract, will now try to become just the second athlete in history to earn both a Super Bowl ring and an Olympic gold medal. The Bills confirmed his signing on Friday as well.

Steveson signed a multi-year deal with WWE in 2021, where he wrestled a few live NXT events and dark fights on SmackDown, but his only TV encounter was a no-contest against Baron Corbin at an NXT PLE last year. Before being dismissed, Steveson has not competed since February 9th's SmackDown.

During an interaction with ESPN Gable Steveson stated, "I have been fortunate to compete at the highest level of competition in my sport but am looking forward to the challenge of seeing how my wrestling skills may translate to football. I am grateful to Coach (Sean) McDermott, (general manager) Brandon Beane, and the Buffalo Bills organization for giving me this opportunity."

Gable Steveson is still a raw player

However, McDermott, who wrestled for a championship in high school, wanted Steveson to play defensive line because he thinks he can have an effect. Although he is still a raw player, the Bills were surprised by his level of skill, which might make him a prime contender for the practice squad in 2024.

Before his release earlier this month, he was contracted by the professional wrestling organization WWE in 2021. Rich Chou and Dave Martin, two well-known MMA managers at the MAG Agency, are close with Chow. Over the years, they have collaborated with several Olympic, UFC, and WWE stars, including Steveson. NFL chances started to present themselves, and Chow and Steveson were introduced. When they finally did, Steveson chose the Bills.
