On this day in wrestling history, April 2, 2012, Brock Lesnar marks his WWE comeback following an eight-year gap. Notably, Brock Lesnar made a return to attacking Superstar John Cena on Raw after Wrestlemania 28, as John Cena lost to The Rock in the first of two "Once in a Lifetime" matches.

The Ultimate Beast left WWE in 2004 and ultimately announced his retirement from the world of wrestling after competing in NJPW and taking home the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Notably, he almost played in the National Football League after trying out for the league and being cut off by the Minnesota Vikings in their final cut phase.

The 46-year-old joined the UFC and quickly rose to stardom as one of the organisation's top stars and a main event MMA fighter after narrowly missing out on the National Football League (NFL). However, he was defeated by the legendary Frank Mir in his UFC debut before overcoming Heath Herring via a unanimous decision in his second match.

Meanwhile, Brock Lesnar took on UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture after he returned to the UFC. Notably, the Webster-born player stunned fans by beating the legendary UFC fighter by technical knockout, bringing home the UFC heavyweight championship for the very first time. In addition, the great player was the first and only guy in history to win the heavyweight belts in both the WWE and the UFC.

Brock Lesnar finally made a comeback to WWE in 2012 after experiencing diverticulitis and ending his UFC career. Fans began to chant his name before he was even introduced when he made his return on Raw following Wrestlemania 28. He was anticipated to return to the WWE following Wrestlemania, and rumours of his comeback had appeared online. For the first time since Wrestlemania 20, the fans went crazy when Brock Lesnar's song started playing on Raw.
