According to a rumour, Tokyo Olympic champion Gable Steveson aspires to return to wrestling and is ready to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics, but for the time being, the WWE is his top goal. A message was sent to Steveson's representation requesting confirmation that he intends to cease a year-plus layoff from competition and compete in the Olympic Trials, which have not yet been scheduled but have been held in April of the Olympic year for the last three Games.

According to NBC Sports, “I miss being on the mats,” Gable Steveson said. “I miss showcasing my skills every year and going out there and putting on a good show and going out there and winning the national tournament. I miss it. I still have that competitive fighter and hope to get back out there really soon.

“I know the Olympics is next year, and I hope to be a part of that and keep moving forward and keep winning big titles for the USA also.”

Gable Steveson signed for WWE

USA Wrestling has not announced the qualifying procedures to be eligible to compete at trials, so Steveson may have to compete before trials to earn his way in. In March 2022 Gable Steveson appeared as an NCAA Heavyweight Champion for the University of Minnesota and took retirement from the sports. While in last April Gable Steveson signed for WWE and had an appearance at the WrestleMania event. However, he hasn’t played a match at biggest.

Steveson stated that his WWE commitments could affect his availability to go back to Olympic-style wrestling. At age 21, Steveson became the second-youngest American wrestling gold winner in history after defeating world champion Geno Petriashvili of Georgia with a takedown in the final seconds of the Tokyo Olympic super heavyweight freestyle match. Bruce Baumgartner is the only wrestler to win the Olympic medal in that division. He is also three wrestlers to win the Olympic medal for USA.
