AJ Styles took a jibe at Cody Rhodes in the latest episode of Friday Night Smackdown. The phenomenal one came to the arena with the members of the OC. Cody asked Styles to enter the ring so that he could have a man-to-man conversation with the 2-time world champion. Styles entered the ring for the crowd to turn against him. They sang the glory for Rhodes.
The decibel levels in the arena were high. Throughout the promo, the crowd did not allow Styles to say what he clearly wanted to, so much so that he was angry at it. The phenomenal one said that Cody knows only to run away from the companies. He said that the American Nightmare initially ran away from WWE following his maiden stint with the company.
The star wrestler then said that Rhodes went to NJPW and ran away from there. He added that Cody was in Ring of Honor but ran away from there too. Styles claimed that Cody was an intergral part of the formation of AEW (Without taking its name) and ran away from it too. In the process, AJ claimed that Cody cannot handle the pressure. It did not go well with the fans.
'When the going gets tough, Cody gets going' - AJ Styles
As AJ Styles claimed "When the going gets tough, Cody gets going," the American Nightmare said it was not moving away but to add value to himself and look to achieve more. As the crowd backed the world champion, Cody added that he does not need cheap tricks to earn title shots like AJ did. Rhodes said that Styles pulled off a Mark Henry to get a title shot.
He made it clear to AJ that at the Clash at the castle, he would make Styles say what he wanted to a couple of weeks back - "I Quit". AJ replied saying that he would do everything in his power to claim the world title. He felt Cody would be relieved to say "I Quit" after the torture he suffers during the match.
