WWE often comes up with different types of stories to make the wrestlers more appealing for the fans. It might be them going personal with their opponents or using gimmicks to keep the fans engaging. Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix were paired together for a love story in the 2000s. It was a unique story considering the nature of the characters. While Beth was a heel who gave no damn to her opponents, Santino played a comedic role and used to be an entertainer.
Many hence wondered if the story would work. However, they managed to do well. The pair was praised by the management leading to them winning a mixed tag team match therby becoming Women’s Champion and Intercontinental Champion respectively. 4. Chyna and Eddie Guerrero
Chyna and Eddie Guerrero were some of the biggest stars on the roster in the Attitude Era. Hence, it felt odd to the fans when they were paired for a love story. However, the duo brought a different layer to their characters and made the story interesting.
Eddie turned out to display his funny nature which won the hearts of the fans. It helped him become the main event contender in the years to come. Likewise, Chyna was taken more seriously by the fans with an addition of a layer to her character. Before it, she was regarded to have an one-dimensional character.

Vince McMahon and Sable were involved in a love story which should have never taken place. The fact that Sable filed a case against WWE for sexual harrassment and unsafe working conditions and ended up working in the promotion after it led to a huge shocker for the fans.
But a bigger shock was her being involved in a love angle with Vince McMahon. It started soon after Sable sued him. 2. Otis and Mandy Rose
Otis and Mandy Rose had a story between each other sheerly due to their interaction on social media. As Otis commented on the posts of Rose, the latter pitched the idea for a love angle between the two. WWE ensured Rose turned face for the sake of the story.
Their segment panned out well. The fans were invested in it. As Otis started to get over among the fans and got a purpose for a solo run, the duo was slowly moved away from each other. While Mandy made a move to Raw, Otis continued to make a mark for himself on the blue brand.

Edge and Vickie Guerrero turned out to be arguablt the best heel power couple in the history of the company. However, the idea of having Vickie involved in a story, especially in a love story, out of nowhere, led to doubts among the minds of the fans. They wondered if it would work.
There was a huge pressure on Edge to make the story work. Both the Rared-R Superstar and the former Smackdown GM made the story work. Vickie showed that she coukd be used in stories as a negative character and Edge showed he could use power to strengthen his career.
