Tennis star Jakub Mensik has shared a heartwarming embrace with his parents after winning the Miami Open 2025 title on the hard courts of Florida. The 19-year-old tennis star has defeated 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic to clinch his first-ever ATP tour title.
The Czech star player heads to this prestigious tournament, being world number 54, having made headlines when he defeated 2025 Indian Wells champion Jack Draper in the second round of the marquee event. The young player then defeated top ATP players like Arthur Fils and Taylor Fritz to make it to the final showdown.
Mensik was slated to face Novak Djokovic in the title clash, with the latter already being the six-time champion and having won seven Florida titles alongside bidding for a 100th ATP title in the Open Era. The 20-year-old defeated the 37-year-old legend and became the second youngest player in history to win the title after Carlos Alcaraz won it in 2022.

Meanwhile, Jakub Mensik has reflected upon his historic win over his childhood idol. The 19-year-old star player was speechless after registering the biggest win of his career. The star player revealed that working on his fitness kept him mentally focused, which helped him thwart Djokovic. Notably, Jakub Maensik is now the new world number 34 after his stellar win in the Miami Open 2025.
"To be honest, I don't know what to say. It feels incredible, obviously. It was probably the biggest day of my life and I did super, which I'm really glad [about], to show the performance and keep the nerves outside of the court before the match. I feel just super happy and I think that the feelings will come later," Jakub Mensik said after the win.
