There have been many great tournaments in tennis which we all look forward to and right now it is time for the Laver Cup to shine. The tournament might not be as old as the Grand Slams but still has a big place in our hearts for the moments it has created in the World of tennis. The tournament started 7 years ago back in 2017 and was named after the legendary Rod Laver who was one of the most respected and iconic figures of the sport and why it is alive even today.

This is a tournament that features some of the top players in the World of the season and we have seen some great matches between the two teams who participate in the event. Along with that, there have been some incredible moments that we can never forget as well and this time we will be going back in time and seeing what this tournament has given us. This tournament is not only filled with some big stars but also some young and upcoming players as well who are looking forward to establishing themselves among the greats of the game.

5. Medvedev's trophy celebration in 2021

The year was 2021 which was just after the pandemic and Team Europe so far was the most dominant team in the tournament under the leadership of Bjorn Borg. The 2021 season once again saw the European team lift the trophy by a score of 14-1. This was the fourth consecutive Laver Cup win for Europe but the most iconic part of this event was Daniil Medvedev's trophy celebration which was so animated that it seemed like he had carried his US Open win of that season to the Laver Cup.

4. Borg vs McEnroe comes back

Rivalries have always been a part and parcel of the game of tennis and when it was revealed that Team Europe would be led by Bjorn Borg and Team World by John McEnroe who had one of the most iconic rivalries in tennis everyone got excited. Though the two would not face each other on the court it was still great to see that they still had the competitive spirit which they had years ago to win matches. It was great to see this rivalry renewed once again after a long and keep the legacy of the game alive.

3. Team World gets their first win

From the inaugural season in 2017 to 2021 it was Bjorn Borg's Team Europe that ended up winning the tournament for four consecutive years, but McEnroe and his men finally broke the streak and we saw one of the best Laver Cup tournaments we have ever seen. It was 2022 and it was an intense battle between the two teams and it was great to watch a tournament which went right till the end. In the end, Team World ended up victorious after winning 3 consecutive matches on the last day and winning the tournament by a score of 13-8.

2. Nadal and Federer play doubles

There is no doubt that Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are among the biggest names in tennis, but throughout their career, we have only seen the two against each other until the 2022 Laver Cup. The two rivals had decided to partner up to play doubles against Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe. Though the legendary duo lost the game in a close-fought tiebreaker, it was still great to see them perform together in what was supposed to be Federer's last tournament before retiring from the game. This was a moment to witness for every tennis fan from around the World.

1. Federer's emotional farewell from the game

The 2021 season was one of the most iconic seasons of the Laver Cup but the highlight of the event was the farewell they gave to the legendary Swiss Maestro Roger Federer. The 20-time Grand Slam winner had been a professional icon of the game for more than two decades and was finally hanging up his racquet after this event. There were a lot of emotional scenes all around the stadium since this was the last time we were going to see Federer play professionally. There is no doubt this was one of the most memorable moments where we saw Federer play some great tennis and be a part of a great tournament before saying goodbye to the sport.
