Insights into Laver Cup

The unique competition is a joint venture of Federer's management company and other partners. It has its roots and is inspired by the Ryder Cup. This competition pits the best players from Europe against the best players from around the globe in a team format.

The tournament kicks off with a glamorous black carpet event every year, drawing in famous personalities from the sports world and beyond. In 2024, Agassi, Noah, and Becker were among the notable figures gracing the black carpet.

Team Europe and Team World will bid farewell to their current captains

However, Agassi and Noah's presence carried significant weight as they are poised to assume captaincy roles starting next year. Since the tournament's inception, John McEnroe has led Team World, while Bjorn Borg has captained Team Europe. They will pass the torch to their successors after this year's event.

Federer's take on this Occasion

In an interview with Eurosport ahead of the 2024 Laver Cup, the 20-time Grand Slam winner expressed the "bittersweet" nature of this year's competition as it marks the final time John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg will lead Team World and Team Europe, respectively.

He emphasized his hope for Bjorn and John to make a return to pass the torch to the next skippers, expressing his desire for the duo to remain captains forever.

"In the future, I hope that Bjorn and John will return and pass on the torch, you know, in a way also to Yannick [Noah] and Andre [Agassi] and that they will always be friends and guests forever as inaugural captains of the event," he Said

"It's very much a bittersweet week with Bjorn and John because I would love them to be captains forever," he added.
