Coco Gauff ends coaching relationship with Brad Gilbert after US Open 2024 Collapse

Coco Gauff and Brad Gilbert in their 14-month run won many tournaments. After her slump in Wimbledon and the US Open things started to fall off.

WTA Star and last year's US Open Champion Coco Gauff ended her coaching partnership with Brad Gilbert. Coco Gauff wants to start her 2025 season fresh as she changes her coaching staff. The former US Open Champion and Brad Gilbert worked together for 14 months. During these 14 months, they won the Washington Open championship, Cincinnati Open Championship, US Open championship in 2023, Auckland championship in 2024, Australian Open Semi final, and Roland Garros Semi finals. 

Announces Split from her coach

The 2023 US Open Champion Posted on her Social media “Thank you! We had an incredible run and I wish you all the best in the future!.”

Brad Gilbert also announced his Split as a coach on social media. He posted, “Thanks to Coco Gauff and the entire team for an absolutely amazing summer run in 2023 and for 14 months of incredible team effort. Coco, at just 20 years young, your future is incredibly bright, and I wish you nothing but continued success ahead. I’m excited for the next….”

Gilbert previously coached Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick. He then joined Coco Gauff’s team in mid 2023. After his arrival coco won the Washington Open and Cincinnati Open tournaments. Then she had won the biggest grand slam of her Tennis Career the US Open 2023 with him. She reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, BNP Paribas Open, and French Open. In the month of June, she climbed to world no 2 but after that things started falling apart. 

Coco Gauff exited the Wimbledon Open in the fourth round at the hands of fellow american Emma Navarro which was the triggering point. After the wimbledon defeat, she said, “We had a game plan goin in, and i felt that it wasn’t working. I dont always ask for advice from the box, but today was one of those moments where i felt like i didnt have solutions. Mentally it was a lot going on, and i delt like i wanted more direction.”

She will next play The China Open 2024 which is scheduled to happen next week. Coco Gauff is currently sitting 6th in the WTA ranking with Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Jessica Pegula in the top three. Gauff is looking to end her 2024 campaign on a high.
