British Tennis WTA Star Emma Raducanu was at the pinnacle of her career when she won the US Open Grand Slam in 2021. She created history by becoming the first qualifier to win a grand slam without dropping a set. She even climbed to the Top 10 of the WTA rankings. After that, the last couple of years were very rough for her as she failed to reach any major tournaments grand stage.

Emma Raducanu has been struggling with her injuries and form for the past couple of years. She recently played the US open grand slam tournament only to exit on the first round losing to Sofia Kenin. Over the past couple of years she hired and fired many coaches and tried many things but still couldn't overcome her lost form.

Now her fellow former British tennis player and former world number 1 Andy Murray's coach Mark Petchey has asked Emma to, ‘Stop overthinking and move ahead’. He admits that Raducanu has been “Stubborn” with certain elements.

He said, “I’m a big believer that you don't really make mistakes at Emma Raducanus's age. I think you make decisions and then you see solutions and that's where we find ourselves with Emma at the moment and where she finds herself.”

Petchey also pointed out what he said after her win at the 2021 US Open tournament. He says, “I always said right after she had a fairytale run in New York that she was going to have a pretty bumpy couple of years. But I hoped that some things would have been different and not quite so rough for her, as I’m sure the people around her would have hoped for too."

Being Stubborn is a Great Quality

The former coach appreciated her for being stubborn in certain areas which is a great quality for a tennis player. He also said, “You need to have a certain self-reliance; you need to be able to put things to one side and entertain thoughts that you don't necessarily always need to implement into your game, but you must consider things. I’m sure she now wishes that some things had been different.”

He tells her to, “Start taking actions to move forward. Looking back at the last couple of years will be overthinking and waste of energy. The bumpy rider has shown her a roadmap or a signpost of where she wants to go from here to progress as a player.”
