Neeraj Chopra won the NC Classic 2025 with a best throw of 86.18 meters on July 5 at the Sree Kantheerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Kenya's Julius Yego and Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage claimed Silver and Bronze medals, respectively, as the event turned out to be highly successful, witnessing an attendance of 14593 in the IT Capital of the country.

The conditions were tougher for throwing, as the headwind meant the throwers had to operate against the wind. In their first attempt, not many throwers could give their best. Neeraj had a foul throw, but came back strong to launch the Javelin for 82.33 meters in his second attempt. However, it was his third attempt that turned out to be the best of the night.

The Olympic Gold Medalist registered a throw of 86.18 meters in his third attempt, which was enough for him to win the gold. It was also the only throw of the night that clocked over 85 meters. Julis Yego, who hasn't been at his best for a long time, had the best night of the season.

"I hope to make this a larger athletics event in the future" - Neeraj Chopra

The Kenyan thrower threw the Javelin for 84.51 meters and registered his season best to clinch the Silver medal. Sri Lanka's Pathirage was impressive as well, who won the Bronze medal. India's Sachin Yadav finished fourth, while the 2016 Olympic Gold medalist, Thomas Rohler, could not give his best.

"I hope to make this a larger athletics event in the future, bringing more top international athletes every year," Chopra said after the event.

It was a successful night for Neeraj as a participant and an organizer. The event in Bengaluru drew 14593 audience in its first edition, which could witness an addition of more track and field disciplines in the upcoming editions.Β
