Neeraj Chopra finished second in the Lausanne Diamond League 2024 with a season-best throw of 89.49 meters. It also turned out to be the second-best throw of Neeraj's career. Anderson Peters created a new meet record with an impressive throw of 90.61 meters. Julian Weber finished third with his best throw of 87.08 meters. Neeraj further gave an update regarding his injury.

In the first throw of the night, Neeraj Chopra managed to clock 82.10 meters. On the other hand, Peters and Weber seemed better right from the word go. The conditions were not favorable for the longer throws as the wind was against the motion of the Javelin. Peters came with a great throw of 88.49 meters to set the pace of the event. The rest tried to catch up for his registered distance.

The second throw of Neeraj witnessed a distance of 83.21 meters being clocked. Returning from a groin injury, it seemed like Chopra was finding it hard to throw the Javelin as well as he would have liked. In his third and fourth attempts, the Indian thrower managed to clock distances of 83.13 and 82.34 meters respectively. Till then, he was operating at the 82-83-meter mark.

It needed a great effort from him to get a last shot at the glory in his 5th attempt. Till then, the star thrower was trailing at the fourth position. His fifth attempt was better than his first four attempts as he threw the Javelin for a good distance of 85.58 meters. It ensured that the Paris Olympics Silver medalist confirmed a top 3 finish in the night.

He seemed relaxed for his last throw which was probably the right way to go. Peters in his last attempt registered a monumental throw of 90.61 meters which is now a new meet record and won him the event. Neeraj in his final attempt threw the Javelin for an impressive distance of 89.49 meters, which is the second-best throw of his career and the best of the year so far.
