All the big names including Rohit Sharma were in Mumbai as the 26th edition of the CEAT Awards was held. India’s Test and ODI skipper was awarded with the CEAT Men’s International Cricketer of the Year award. 

During the award show, Shreyas Iyer was seen sitting and enjoying the proceedings. Once the batter spotted Rohit Sharma, he was quick to get up and offer him the seat. Rohit Sharma though wasn’t having none of it as he made the young batter sit ahead of him and watched the show sitting behind his teammate. 

This act has now gone viral and the fans are praising both players for their humility. Few fans didn’t miss the real respect that Shreyas Iyer has for a senior star like Rohit Sharma. While another set of fans commended the Indian skipper for being so humble and down to earth. 

Rohit Sharma feels humbled after receiving the award

Speaking moments after being adjudged the CEAT Men’s International Cricket of the Year, Rohit Sharma said, “Receiving the CEAT Men's International Cricketer of the Year award is a humbling experience. It's an acknowledgement of the hard work and determination that goes into every match. I'm grateful to CEAT for this honour and motivated to continue pushing the boundaries of what's possible on the field."

Former Indian legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar said, “The CEAT Cricket Rating Awards has been a beacon for recognizing outstanding talent in this great sport. This year's award winners have set the benchmark for future generations, showcasing impeccable skill and sportsmanship. It's a privilege to be part of this journey that celebrates the spirit of cricket."

Rahul Dravid who recently stepped down as the Indian coach was being conferred with the CEAT Lifetime Achievement Award. Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami were awarded the CEAT ODI batter and bowler of the year. 

Shreyas Iyer was given an award for his amazing captaincy that helped the Kolkata Knight Riders win the IPL 2024 season. The CEAT award for the Test batter and bowler of the year went to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravichandran Ashwin. 

Phil Salt and Tim Southee were the winners of the T20I batter and bowler of the year. meanwhile, Ravi Sai Kishore won the CEAT Domestic Cricketer of the Year. Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma were named the CEAT Women’s best Indian batter and bowler of the year. 

Harmanpreet Kaur was awarded for the most matches as captain in Women’s T20I while Shafali Varma was awarded for scoring the fastest 200 in Women’s Test cricket. Jay Shah was given the award for the best sports administration to round off the night.
