'Not even thinking' - Manu Bhaker’s father refutes rumors of marriage plan with Neeraj Chopra

In recent days, a video featuring Sumedha Bhaker, the mother of Olympic bronze medalist shooter Manu Bhaker, engaging in a lighthearted interaction with Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has taken the internet by storm. The video quickly went viral, leading to widespread speculation and a flurry of memes suggesting that Sumedha Bhaker was possibly considering Chopra as a prospective match for her daughter.

However, Ram Kishan Bhaker, Manu Bhaker's father, has stepped forward to address these rumours. In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, he clarified that the Bhaker family is currently not entertaining any thoughts about Manu's marriage. According to him, Manu is still young and her primary focus remains on her career in shooting and personal growth.

Ram Kishan Bhaker further emphasized that the family's focus is entirely on Manu's career and that any talk of marriage is premature. He noted that the video which went viral should not be misinterpreted. He stated, “Manu is still very young. She is not even of marriageable age. Not even thinking about it right now. Manu's mother considers Neeraj like her son.”

Neeraj Chopra’s family also chimed in on the matter. Chopra's uncle addressed the speculation by affirming that any significant personal developments in Neeraj's life, such as marriage, would be publicly shared. He downplayed the rumours, underscoring that such decisions would be shared with the public at the appropriate time.

Both Manu Bhaker and Neeraj Chopra have made significant contributions to Indian sports, with their achievements resonating deeply with the nation. Manu Bhaker recently made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by winning a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event. She also secured another bronze in the mixed team 10m air pistol event alongside Sarabjot Singh.

Neeraj Chopra, who rose to fame after winning gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, continued his impressive streak by securing a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Games. Despite achieving a season-best throw of 89.45m in the qualification rounds, Chopra fell just short of gold, with Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem delivering a record-breaking throw of 92.97m.
