At Levi's Stadium on Wednesday night, Chelsea defeated Wrexham 2-2 in a friendly encounter thanks to a goal from Lesley Ugochukwu in the 82nd minute. From the center of the box, Ugochukwu curled a shot that went through traffic towards the right corner.

In the 72nd minute, Jack Marriot struck on a counterattack to give Wrexham a 2-1 lead. Wrexham, a Welsh football team jointly owned by star Ryan Reynolds, got promoted to the third division of English football this year, and Luke Bolton scored another goal for the squad.

In Chelsea's inaugural preseason game and first under new manager Enzo Maresca, the former Leicester City manager, Christopher Nkunku scored the game's opening goal. Chelsea is a perennial strength in the Premier League and it should have been an easy task for them to beat Wrexham but that wasn’t the case to be.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said, “It’s important that we show the Wrexham spirit we've known for the last few years. We had to dig deep at times and tonight we did that again. Whether it’s preseason or not you want to see that kind of spirit we’ve kind of built a reputation. We’re representing a working-class town and a fantastic area and we’ve got to reflect that with our performances.”

“I think tonight it was quite good” : Enzo Maresca

The newly appointed Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca spoke about his side’s display in their opening game of the pre-season. He said, “I’m very happy about the performance in general because in this moment, if we think that we started just two weeks ago, it’s important that as a staff and in general people can start to see the identity of the team and I think tonight it was quite good.”

The former Leicester City added, “I have no doubt. I think you are going to concede in different ways, so you need to decide in which way you need to concede a goal.”
