Enzo Maresca discusses tension between Enzo Fernandez and other Chelsea players

Enzo Maresca doesn't anticipate any problems in the team whenever Enzo Fernandez rejoins them after the racism controversy following Argentina's Copa America 2024 victory. On his Instagram live, Fernandez was caught singing a derogatory racial song that was aimed at French athletes who were of African descent. 

Wesley Fofana, the defender for Chelsea, went on to allege his colleague of openly racist remarks. Nonetheless, Chelsea manager Maresca stated there won't be any problems within the team and that he anticipates the midfielder returning without any problems. The team would be playing Wrexham FC at the Levi stadium in tomorrow.

The former Leicester City manager said, “I don’t think so to be honest. At the end, they are all human beings. There is no bad intention from any one of them. I don’t think when Enzo is back, we will have any problems. The player and club clarified the situation. “It’s great the player did the statement to apologise. The club did the same. There is not something to add to the situation. It’s clear and clarified.”

“I hope everyone will be on the same page” : Reece James

Reece James, the captain of Chelsea, also offered his thoughts on the situation, stating that he had discussed it with Fernandez and the individuals impacted and that it would remain inside the organization. The captain of the Blues is also hopeful that everyone can come to an understanding and be able to move past the circumstance.

The Chelsea skipper said that, “It’s obviously a really difficult situation. I think Enzo (Fernandez) quickly acknowledged he did wrong, put his hand up and apologised to the club, the team and the people offended. I have spoken to Enzo and everyone involved but those conversations have to stay in house. He hasn’t arrived yet so I don’t know if there is anything to amend. I hope everyone will be on the same page and we can move on from the situation.”
