Upon transfer deadline day, Jadon Sancho was sent to Chelsea on loan, even though it appeared that he had worked out his disagreements with Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United. Dan Ashworth, the sporting director of Manchester United, has refuted rumours that Jadon Sancho had been forced out of the team against his will.

On the day of the transfer deadline, the winger was sent on loan to Chelsea even though it appeared that he had made peace with Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, following a fallout from the previous campaign. According to the terms of the loan agreement, Chelsea must pay between £20 million and £25 million to acquire Sancho at the conclusion of the season, depending on how well the player performs.

But Ashworth denied that Sancho, 24, who was kicked out of Manchester United because of his argument with Ten Hag, was the reason why he spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at his old club, Borussia Dortmund. He was asked if Sancho's falling out with Ten Hag indicated he had no chance of succeeding at United.

He said, "He wanted to explore the opportunity at Chelsea, like Scott McTominay wanted to explore the opportunity at Napoli, like Aaron Wan-Bissaka wanted to explore the opportunity at West Ham.

“We're not in a position where we're kicking players” : Dan Ashworth

The Manchester United Sporting director added, "We're not in a position where we're kicking players out of the club. I think with any player, whether it's Jadon, whether it's Scott or whether it's Aaron, if there's a preference that they would like to move and go to a new club and it's right for them and it's right for us, then you have to explore it.

The former Newcastle United Sporting Director concluded by saying that, "We felt we had enough depth in that particular position to be able to cover it. We've got four really good wide players, Jadon was the fifth, and it just enabled us to make that decision that if it was good for him and good for us, it was something we were willing to consider."
