Following Manchester United's crushing loss to Liverpool, Erik ten Hag got into a heated argument with a journalist. Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz scored goals to help Liverpool defeat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Following two consecutive losses, the Red Devils are currently 14th in the English Premier League standings after falling to Brighton and Hove Albion the previous weekend. At the press conference after the game, the United manager got into a furious argument with a reporter. Ten Hag was questioned whether the defeat was due to the players or poor coaching, he said, “What do you mean? Maybe you can explain to me with the mistakes that we make regular.”
The reporter then justified himself by explaining the kind of goals, the team has conceded, “Constantly turning the ball over in your own half, playing the ball out from the back, getting mugged, chances coming on the back of it, counter-attacks when you're outnumbered, giving up endless chances in your own stadium against your biggest rivals. With the greatest of respect, Erik, we've seen that for so long now.”
A furious Erik ten Hag responded to this by saying that, “You are sure? I don't think otherwise you wouldn't win trophies as we did against big opponents. So I'm sorry for you, I have another vision.”

“We are going for trophies” : Erik ten Hag on Manchester United
During the interview with club media, he said, “I'm very disappointed, especially when you lose 3-0 to Liverpool. The game is over and we have to live with the result. We have to continue, bounce back and we need to improve the team. Individuals have to improve and, also fitness-wise, we have to improve. We will be fine. We are going for trophies and we have a lot to play for.”
The former Ajax manager added, "I think the team showed resilience and kept fighting for each other. They stuck together and were still executing the plan. They dealt with the mistakes they made and I think that is also a platform to continue on with the season."
