Newcastle and Crystal Palace are currently in advanced talks and reports claim that a nearly £70 million agreement over Marc Guehi is on the verge of being finalized. Mail Online has reported that Guehi's future is anticipated to be resolved before The Magpies' Carabao Cup second-round match against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.
Crystal Palace will host Championship side Norwich City at Selhurst Park on Tuesday evening. Guehi's involvement in the game might indicate where his future lies. The 24-year-old centre-back has captained The Eagles for their first two Premier League defeats. With the club in need of a boost to progress to the next round of the cup, he could feature once again.
However, this might lower his value in Newcastle's eyes if they beat Forest on Wednesday. The Magpies have reached the latter stages of the Carabao Cup in the last two seasons, and if Guehi plays for Palace, it might prevent him from featuring in an important competition for the club.

Even if Newcastle's offer for Guehi is accepted by Palace, the completion of the deal depends on reaching an agreement on personal terms. The talented England player seems willing to move to St James' Park and make a permanent departure from London for the first time in his career.
Guehi has been the primary transfer target for Newcastle in the final weeks of the summer transfer window, which is set to close on Friday. United has submitted multiple proposals to Palace, including a deal totalling £65 million with add-ons.
Record Breaking deal for both Newcastle and Crystal Palace
The potential deal would break both Newcastle’s and Palace’s transfer records for incoming and outgoing, respectively. Newcastle's current record deal is at £63 million paid to Real Sociedad for Alexander Isak back in 2022. Having lost Joachim Andersen to Fulham last week, Palace have already lined up a move for Wolfsburg centre-back Maxence Lacroix to provide much-needed defensive reinforcements, particularly if Guehi leaves the club this week.
