Tottenham Hotspur handed Manchester City a 4-0 defeat

In a stunning display of dominance, Tottenham Hotspur handed Manchester City a 4-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium. They also shattered the defending champions’ 52-match unbeaten home streak. This humiliation marks City's fifth consecutive loss in all competitions and highlights their struggles this season under Pep Guardiola.

Notably, Guardiola’s team has won six of the last seven Premier League titles but now appears a shadow of its former self. The Etihad has long been a fortress, but Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs dismantled it with ruthless efficiency. James Maddison, celebrating his 28th birthday, was the star of the show, delivering a scintillating performance with two first-half goals.

His opening strike in the 13th minute came after a sublime cross from Dejan Kulusevski found him unmarked, and Maddison coolly slotted the ball into the bottom corner. Just seven minutes later, he capitalized on a sloppy pass from Josko Gvardiol, combining with Son Heung-min before dinking the ball over City goalkeeper Ederson.

Here are two goals of Maddison:

A shocking and uphill battle for City!

City’s misery deepened after halftime. Pedro Porro smashed home a thunderous shot in the 53rd minute following an electric run and assist from Kulusevski. The final blow came in stoppage time when Brennan Johnson finished a swift counterattack, leaving City’s defence in shambles.

The defeat not only ends City’s long home streak but also marks the first time since February 2016 that they have conceded four goals at the Etihad. For Guardiola, this was only the third occasion in his managerial career where his team has lost 4-0 on home turf.

With Liverpool next on the schedule, City face an uphill battle to salvage their season. Meanwhile, Tottenham’s victory propels them further up the table, signalling their intent to challenge the league’s heavyweights.
