James Maddison, the star of Tottenham Hotspur, has selected a legend of Manchester United as the finest player in Premier League history. The Tottenham midfielder participated in TNT Sports' 20 Questions segment, where he was asked questions about a range of football and other sports-related subjects.

The Tottenham Hotspur star chose a Manchester United great who is among the finest players in Premier League history as Maddison's pick for the best player of all time. Maddison selected Wayne Rooney, who excelled for England at the international level and had an outstanding time at Manchester United and Everton.

When asked who he thought was the best Premier League player of all time, Maddison said, "We're gonna go Wayne Rooney."

Tottenham legend Harry Kane is one of several players that could be considered as contenders for the title of greatest Premier League footballer of all time. Spurs supporters, however, will probably be content enough with Maddison's selection of Rooney because his numbers speak for themselves. At least he didn't choose any of Tottenham's rivals from North London.

Wayne Rooneyโ€™s exemplary Premier League career

Rooney rose to prominence with Everton during the early 2000s. In October 2002, he made a spectacular long-range attempt against Arsenal to earn the Toffees an important 2-1 victory and break the Gunners' 30-game winning streak.

After two seasons at Goodison Park, he moved to Manchester United for ยฃ25.6 million during the summer transfer window of 2004. With the Red Devils, he won 16 titles. Rooney won three Carabao Cups, four Community Shields, five English Premier League crowns, one FIFA Club World Cup, one UEFA Europa League, one FA Cup, and one UEFA Champions League.

Rooney is Man United's all-time leading scorer with 253 goals across all competitions. With 183 goals scored for the Red Devils, he is the third-highest goal scorer in the Premier League for any one club, only surpassed by Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane.
