The Spanish international faced what initially appeared to be a season-ending ACL setback in late September, but he is determined to make an impact in the next campaign. On Friday, City released a video montage showing the 28-year-old working hard on his own, engaging in a series of intense running and football drills.

Ballon d'Or winner back at training

Manchester City released a video where Rodri was seen performing drills and intense training.

This year's Ballon d'Or winner's importance to his club is undeniable. The captain's armband he wore highlights his important role for both Manchester City and the Spanish national team. Although City is facing a forgettable season, his serious injury has certainly impacted the team's performance. However, if he can make a return before the season concludes, it could provide a much-needed boost for the club and help turn their fortunes around.

Rodri has amassed all the coveted club trophies with Manchester City since joining in 2019, securing four Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

This Saturday, Rodri and his teammates will confidently face Championship side Plymouth Argyle in the fifth round of the FA Cup at home.

Since joining Manchester City from Atletico Madrid in 2019, Rodri accumulated a total of 174 appearances for the club across competitions. Playing the role of the single pivot, Rodri was the fulcrum of City's midfield and netted 22 goals in the process.
